Knits from the LYS: A Collection by Espace Tricot captures everything we love about our local yarn stores. Exciting patterns, yarns both familiar and new, and helpful tips on getting the best results. For over 10 years, Espace Tricot has been the LYS (local yarn store) at the heart of Monkland Village in Montreal, Canada. Serving such a cre ative, artistic and multicultural community directly inspired this collaborative collection. Designers and shop owners Stephanie Earp and Naomi Endicott have assembled a range of patterns that offer something for every knitter. The 15 patterns feature a variety of structures, constructions, difficulty levels and techniques. Challenge yourself or stay in your comfort zone — it is up to you! The book includes designs from the following designers: Stephanie Earp & Naomi Endicott (designs and creative direction), Carolyn Bloom, Olesia Lewyckyj Jarymowycz, Jocelyne Malric, Mona Schmidt, Andie Schmidt and Dianna Walla. Stephanie Earp was born in Toronto, studied in Chicago, Boston and Kingston, and now lives in Montreal. She came to knitting in her twenties when she mistook a copy of Vogue Knitting for Vogue. She made one of the sweaters from that issue and never looked back. Stephanie’s designs have appeared in many publications. Naomi Endicott grew up surrounded by knitters and makers, but it wasn’t until she took a Saturday job at the local yarn store that she dared to believe she could have a career in knitting. After completing a Master’s in Knitwear Design, Heritage, and Production in Scotland, she returned to Montreal to set up a dye studio and to work at Espace Tricot. Includes: 144 pages, 15 knitting patterns (4 sweaters, 3 shawls, 1 cardigan, 1 skirt, 1 vest, 1 pair of socks, 1 pair of mittens, 1 blanket, 1 hat and 1 pair of mitts).
