This volume highlights current comparative education research conducted in the Nordic countries. The leitmotifs of the selected articles of this volume are time and space, which are both internalized themes in comparative research. The articles illustrate the tenacious interest in comparative research and reflect on the latest paradigmatic turns, such as the spatial turn, in comparative education. Through the spatial turn, the main focus of comparative research has shifted from the comparison of educational systems to the comparison of educational reforms and to the analysis of problematisations as driving forces behind such reforms. In this vein, the articles of this volume illustrate how the research interests in exclusive analysis of indigenous development of single education systems have shifted to analysis of the complex relations and policy transfer between the transnational organisations and local bodies of governance. Major themes of the book are:

Historical aspects of comparative education research in the Nordic countries;
Theoretical aspects of comparative education; and
Making the European space for education and beyond.
